Dr. William Booth is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned a BS in Medical Technology and MS in Chemistry from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He earned a Ph.D in Biochemistry (concentrating in structural biology) from the University of South Carolina. As an IRACDA post-doctoral researcher at the Wake Forest School of Medicine he worked in two labs while also teaching at Winston-Salem State University. Additionally, he is a proud Army veteran, husband and father. Dr. Booth’s research interests are in the development of novel antibiotics using protein structure- based drug design. His disease focus is on S. pyogenes-induced necrotizing fasciitis (the flesh- eating disease) and the proteins involved in its progression.
