The School of Life Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting in the 2022 – 2023 Academic Year to conduct research and instruction in microbiology. Start-up package will commensurate with qualifications and research needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Research interests may include any discipline within microbiology. Teaching responsibilities will include an introductory undergraduate course with a laboratory, developing an upper division undergraduate course with a laboratory such as bacterial genetics, bacterial physiology, or virology, and a graduate course in the applicant’s area of specialty. Additional responsibilities include rendering relevant service to the professional community, participating in curriculum development activities, participating on committees, and performing other related tasks as assigned.
 

 Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field by the time of the appointment, with research experience in Microbiology. Applicants should have an outstanding research record, an ability to lead a research program involving students and postdocs, an ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels and a strong potential for securing external funding.
